With growing trends , technology and media , it has never been so hectic to grasp all the data , reports that has been published over the Internet. Nonetheless , to get a overview of what the Internet has seen in the year— a single “Internet trends” report is suffice.

Bond Capitals , a company that was found by Mary meeker, a yesteryear Morgan Stanley Managing director, publishes the “Bond Internet Trends” report every year around June in order to publish the latest summary of what has transpired across the Internet.

She was also at the Kleiner Perkins from 2010–18 , where she had internal power dispute with Hamid , who joined the company in 2017. Hence she had spun off from the company to form her own called Bond .

The topics include E-commerce , Internet usage , the health care , cons of usage , online courses , US based reports and China based reports.Few highlights of the “Bond Internet trends 2019” include

> Although Asia-Pacific region has only 48% of the internet penetration with respect to their overall population, it contributes to 53% of the global internet users. China contributes 21% of global users whereas India is pegged to be at 12%.

> It has been estimated that 2019 year would be first time where Americans would be spending more time on mobile (226 mins) than on TV (216 mins)

>In the year 2018–19 , Instagram and YouTube have seen the highest increment in time spent by the internet users.

> India’s Reliance JIO has seen a data consumption growth by more than 8 folds from around 2 EB in 2016 to 17 EB in 2018. (EB stands for exabytes or 10⁶ terrabytes)

> Count of Interactive game players globally are at 2.4 Billion

> Global GDP has seen a rise from USA, China and India who are at 25% , 15% and 3% in 2018 whereas Europe has seen a downtrend at 22%.

> 44% Indians have expressed that unemployment and jobs are among their top 3 worries .

> Deep learning by deeplearning.ai is seen as one of the top specialisation in Coursera in 2018.

>US has seen almost 26% of its people who are almost ‘always online’ in 2018 compared to 21 % in 2015 which might be a cause of concern for their social life as well as for health.

>Internet Advertising spend is around 100 billion dollars with desktop advertising remaining around 35 billion dollars (since 2012 it has remained steady hovering around the same mark). Mobile advertising has seen a great surge Y-o-Y since 2010.

> It has been no surprise that Google leads the way as the Internet ad platform in US along with Facebook.

>Free trial / tier has been seen as the major reason why customers are willing to try out new services.

With the Internet users crossing 51% of the global population mark (around 3.8 billion internet users ) and expected to grow more , its always wise to learn about the Internet in order to gain an understanding of what’s happening around us irrespective of your profession, be it doctor , humanitarian , engineer etc. Especially for the entrepreneurs of the future and the market researchers , this report can act as a lead from which they can play their game of number-crunching and understand the consumer’s preferences.
